We all have some sort of property, wether it's land, or an i-pod, or a car, or something else like that. Now I think that Locke had the right idea about property and it's ownership. If you build a house on some land, then it should be yours because you put your own labor into it. I agree that the government has a right to some of the land, but, that they're making it more and more difficult to get land now a days. Now, once you buy something from anywhere, there is a tax on it, but taxes seem to high now, and think that it wouldn't hurt our economy too much if taxes were lowered by about 2-4%. We'd still be around 5-7% taxes down here. If the government has less rules and regulations, our economy would be better, because land and other items would be more affordable to the common person.
I think that money is evil,..but it is a necessary evil for our economy. Personally I wish that we still used gold amd silver coins, because the have worth even outside the realm of money. But a piece of paper, on the other hand, has no value outside the realm of money. The only reason that I think money is necessary, is because we use it as a means of exchanging items, and that it puts value on an item. Also it is a good tool for workers, because instead of getting a chicken at the end of the day, or a barrel of pumpkins, they get paid in the form of an object that does not waste away after a set amount of time. Also, back to the value idea, some items are worth more than other items, and, with the use of money, you can see 'how' much more one item is worth than another. It is also very use in the market because is doesn't waste. Locke was right though with his idea that too much ownership of something is bad. We should only own land that we are using, and we shouldn't hoard all of our money just for the sake of hoarding it. Now, saving and investing money is a very wise thing, but just hoarding it seems selfish to me. I don't know, I may be wrong with my own ideas, but putting some your money into the common sytem helps everyone out in the end.
